Lacked energy, dozed off,
We took my 13 year old niece and her mother to see Candlelight: The Best of Hans Zimmer. My sister-in-law dozed off and she's musical fan! Bert was an understudy and his pitch was off, he bumped into people on stage and seemed under rehearsed. The Jane character was difficult to understand especially when she spoke loudly. We saw a Saturday matinee so maybe the fact they had 2 shows that day was the reason but the show lacked energy and seemed to drag on, especially the first act. I didn't like the new songs and the adaptations of the old songs left me hollow too. To be honest, we've seen 9 NYC shows since September 2026 and this one ranks in last place. We had read good reviews so we were looking forward to it. The whole cast, except for Miss Andrews, seemed to be going through the motions. She seemed to screech when her voice would rise - I only could understand her when she spoke in a regular volume and sometimes not then.
